Soft & Fluffy Stuffed Bread Rolls
Ingredients
For the Dough:
7g (1 packet) dry yeast
500ml (2 cups) warm milk (or mix with warm water)
240ml (1 cup) vegetable oil
1 egg (white for the dough, yolk for brushing)
5g (1 teaspoon) granulated sugar
5g (1 teaspoon) salt
625-750g (5-6 cups) all-purpose flour
For the Filling (Optional):
Crumbled feta cheese
Sautéed spinach
Mozzarella & herbs
Mashed potatoes with seasoning
Cooked ground beef or any preferred filling
Preparation
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, dissolve the dry yeast in warm milk. (The milk should be warm but not hot to activate the yeast.)
Add vegetable oil, sugar, and salt, and stir well.
Mix in the egg white (reserve the yolk for later).
Gradually add flour, mixing continuously until a dough forms.
Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Step 2: Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 30-60 minutes until it doubles in size.
Step 3: Shape & Fill the Rolls
Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down and take small handfuls (palm-sized pieces).
Flatten each piece slightly and place your preferred filling in the center.
Fold and seal the dough around the filling, forming a smooth ball.
Place the filled rolls seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Step 4: Second Proofing & Baking
Cover the rolls with plastic wrap and let them rest overnight in the fridge.
The next morning, preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
Remove the plastic wrap and brush the tops with egg yolk for a golden crust.
Bake for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
Let the rolls cool slightly before serving.
Enjoy!
