Keto Calzone Recipe - Crispy, Cheesy, and Low-Carb!
Looking for a way to enjoy pizza flavors while sticking to your keto diet?
This high-protein, low-carb Keto Calzone is your new go-to comfort food—crispy on the outside, cheesy on the inside, and air fried to perfection.
We tested it with both ground chicken and ground turkey, and ground chicken was the clear winner in terms of flavor, texture, and crispiness.
Ingredients (1 serving):
4 oz ground chicken
5–6 slices of pepperoni (optional but recommended)
2–3 tbsp shredded mozzarella cheese
1 egg (for egg wash)
1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Parchment paper
Instructions:
Flatten the Chicken:
Place the ground chicken on a piece of parchment paper. Use your hands or a spatula to flatten it into a thin, circular shape—like a tortilla. Make sure it's even but not too thin to tear.Add Fillings:
Place the pepperoni slices and shredded mozzarella in the center of the chicken circle.Fold:
Using the parchment paper to help, fold one side over to form a half-moon shape. Gently peel the paper back and press the edges together to seal.Coat the Surface:
Beat the egg and brush it over the top of the calzone. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese for that golden, crispy crust.Air Fry:
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Carefully place the calzone inside and cook for 12 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
Tips & Variations:
You can substitute ground turkey, but ground chicken offers better texture and flavor.
Add extra fillings like sautéed mushrooms, olives, or jalapeños for a twist.
Serve with a side of sugar-free marinara sauce for dipping.
