Immune-Boosting Spiced Chicken Soup

This nourishing immune-boosting chicken soup is packed with warm spices and rich flavors to help your body stay strong during cold and flu season. Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

  • 2 tablespoon tomato paste

  • 1 chicken breast (or 2 chicken thighs)

  • 4 cups chicken broth (from boiled chicken)

  • 1 teaspoon cumin

  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric

  • Juice of half a lemon

Instructions

  1. In a pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and stir constantly until golden brown.

  2. Add the tomato paste and continue stirring for another minute to enhance the flavor.

  3. In a separate pot, boil the chicken until fully cooked. Remove the chicken and shred it into small pieces.

  4. Slowly add the chicken broth to the tomato-flour mixture while stirring to create a smooth consistency.

  5. Add the shredded chicken to the soup and mix well.

  6. Season with cumin, chili flakes, black pepper, and turmeric. Let the soup simmer for 5 more minutes to blend the flavors.

  7. Just before serving, squeeze in the fresh lemon juice for a bright, tangy finish.
